Fabrizio Gavatorta was born in Turin on October 21, 1970.

In 1988, at the end of the Institute of Art, he participated in his first pictorial competition and received the Critics Award. He attended the Faculty of Architecture at the Polytechnic of Turin. In 1991 he performed his first personal pictorial exhibition in the city of Savigliano. His early artistic years are characterized by a mainly figurative and academic painting. The birth of the new millennium transforms his life: painting becomes his only work for the artist.

In the world of art he is known as the "painter of shadows", in particular since the artist produces the first works of the "Black Shadows" cycle. This pictorial series has the characteristic of depicting silhouettes, almost always black in color, completely in shadow, superimposed on vast landscapes, painted with a meticulous search for bright and particular shades, aimed at arousing greater attention in the observer. These paintings have a clear and marked inspiration to "Pop" Art and have crossed national borders, landing first in Europe, passing through the major capitals and cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Istanbul, Berlin, Brussels, Dublin, Prague, Oslo, Lyon, Nice, Valencia, and then leave the old continent and also arrive in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Russia and China, Japan.

In 2013 he was present at the "Venice Biennale" in the "Opera Gardens", and repeated the experience also in 2015 and 2017 by participating in collateral events related to the Biennale.

He founded the ITINERARTE ASSOCIATION and became its President. The administrative heart of this reality, which supports FABRIZIO GAVATORTA as a professional and artist, is located in his studio and is the institutional form with which the painter presents himself, speaking of Culture, to administrative bodies, Municipalities, Provinces, Regions, through exhibitions, conferences, seminars, writings.

Over the years he has also been Artistic Curator and has created many important public events, including for example ITINERARTE which involved over 300 artists in the various editions, many of which are of great fame, or the exhibition of Contemporary Sculpture "Prove di Dialogo" to pay homage to the anniversary of the hundred years since the death of Davide Calandra.

In 2015 he started a radio broadcast entitled RADIOLOGICART, on the frequencies of TrsRadio, where, in the role of conductor, he speaks and explains Contemporary Art.

He is the author of writings and books on art, in particular on Renaissance and medieval art. He also talks about History and Art History in conferences and seminars open to the public.

In 2016 he received the "Leonardo da Vinci International Award" and the "Michelangelo Buonarroti International Award" at Palazzo Borghese in Florence, the "Artist in History" International Award at Monreale in the province of Palermo, the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at Palazzo Jacopo in Varazze in Liguria, the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at San Miniato in Tuscany.

He participates in important television programs and is reviewed in important sector magazines and is interviewed by authoritative journalists and prestigious national newspapers.

In 2016, at the Palazzina di Caccia in Stupinigi, a Savoy royal residence and Unesco heritage, he created a very important personal exhibition with the evocative title "Baroque Shadows", where, inside the Savoy royal palace, he brings his pictorial evolution that begins to open to other figurative forms, never forgetting and leaving out "his" shadows.

In 2017 he created another important personal exhibition at the Sacra di San Michele, the Symbol of Piedmont, entitled "the Perfume of the Shadow". In this millennial space the painter presents sixty unpublished works born and developed precisely on the theme inspired by the site itself.

In 2017 the pictorial cycle of "The Contemporary Princesses" was also born, deliberately figurative and dedicated to women. This new artistic vein places itself alongside previous experiences, walking with them, bringing an added, different, important value. This new artistic adventure will be a continuous evolution both in terms of themes and representations, thanks to the numerous living models with which the artist is fortunate to collaborate fruitfully, also on a photographic level. The women are represented by Gavatorta in their intimacy and are depicted in charcoal on paper or with the oil technique. After many years Gavatorta resumes the use of this technique that the painter had set aside for the use of acrylic. From this moment the use of oil painting embraces the painter's artistic vision together with the acrylic technique.

In 2020 the new pictorial cycle of Gavatorta was born, which will be added to the previous ones: GENESI. This pictorial series, extremely figurative, on the one hand will represent nature in a detailed and precise way. On the other side it will be a vehicle of color and chromatic extensions that, thanks to their impact, excite.

His pictorial prices can be found by consulting the CATALOG OF MODERN ART CAM number 52 published by Mondadori Editore. In Italy his works are visible in many events and cultural events and the painter also works at an international level. Many of his works are included in important museum institutions and authoritative private collections.
